After driving on the snow and ice, I had a check engine light that came on. The next day I went to Lake Ridge Automotive and they promptly checked out the problem which apparently was something minor causing it and the check engine light coming on problem went away. In addition, there was no charge for what they did to correct the problem. It is most strongly recommended that all Northern Virginians consider taking their car(s) to Lake Ridge Automotive for their maintenance/repair needs.

abs light on dash lit up

Have you ever noticed your dashboard ABS icon lit up? If you have it means there is an issue that needs to be diagnosed, ABS issues don’t need to be ignored long. The anti-lock braking system, or ABS, is an important feature on every modern car, truck, or SUV. It has been legally mandated since 2013 in the US but was standard on almost every vehicle even prior to that. Here’s what you need to know to make sure your ABS system doesn’t fail, from Lake Ridge Automotive in Woodbridge, VA.

technician holding a clean and dirty air filter comparison in the front seat of a car

When driving around town, your vehicle's engine needs clean air to burn the fuel – and it needs a lot. In fact, a typical vehicle needs about 216,000 gallons of air for every tank of gas. All that air passes through a filter that catches the dust and dirt. Eventually, the filter gets completely full, and because the filter can only hold so much, dirt starts getting through. At Lake Ridge Automotive in Woodbridge, we want to help you get the best air quality in your vehicle, but first, we want to explain the process of where this dirty air is going.

Obviously, your brakes are essential. However, it’s easy to neglect or ignore brake issues, and even miss them altogether; as long as the truck still stops, many people don’t see the need to have their brakes serviced. From Lake Ridge Automotive in Woodbridge, VA, here are some common brake issues, and why you should fix them.

fuel being put into vehicle

Your car’s fuel system works with the rest of the engine control system to deliver the best performance with the lowest emissions. Check your car’s fuel system regularly or immediately if you smell gas or suspect a problem.

What does it do? - The fuel system transfers fuel from the fuel tank and passes it through a fuel filter for straining before it arrives at the injectors. A pressure regulator controls fuel pressure to ensure good engine performance under a variety of speed and load conditions. Fuel injectors, when activated, spray a metered amount of fuel into the engine. Some vehicles use a return line system to return unused fuel back to the tank.
